  1. ok, so here is my situation/question. so a few days back i start getting an odd clattering from under the hood, but it shortly stops so i dont think twice about it. well the other day the clattering comes back and hasnt really stoped at all since. today i took the valve cover off to check for any kind of metal shavings, lose bolts or anything of that nature. i found that the rocker on the far back (closest to firewall) exhaust side has more side to side movement in it than the others, very noticeable. the question is could this be causing my clatter and if so how do i fix it? i havent worked on these cars to much so im unsure as how to go about it, i did notice a spring between the rockers, is it possible that this needs replacing, or do i need to replace the whole rocker assembly.

  3. I have been trying to email FIP about the hurrican mpi setup but havent gotten any emails in return. dose anyone know if they are still making the hurrican setup or how i may be able to get ahold of someone who knows?
  4. I could be wrong but it seems like i read somewhere that the oil separator really wasnt needed, is this true?
  5. well i took a look at the timing chain and the cam and stuff. the chain itself looked to be fine, the cam was well soaked in oil so i assume that the oil flow is fine. i am going to try and take a better look at the timing chain guides today and see if i can see anything. but also it kinda sounds like its coming from the top of the engine twords the back end.
  6. well when i rev the motor the noise dose get louder so im suspecting that its something not good. Im going on deployment for 7 months so it wont be driven and when i get back im rebuilding the motor anyway so really im not all that worried about it i was just curious if someone might be able to give me some easy hints to try that could be a simple fix.

So i am having a problem with my car. out of nowhere it started making an odd grinding noise is the only way i know to explain it. it sounds like the noise is coming from under the valve cover somewhere in the head. im not exactly sure what it could be it almost sounds like the cam might be griding or something but im not sure. i have visually checked under the valve cover and saw nothing out of the ordinary. i also checked the turbo and everything seems to look fine and im kinda at a loss if anyone has any idea that might lead me in the right direction i would be very greatful thx in advance!
  8. I have a few questions about MPI setups. I was looking at the FIP hurricane setup, i really like the fact that it is basically a plug and play system and there really is little to no tuning required at all, however im not quite in love with the price tag, what other options are out there for a good plug and play mpi that has many of the same options or is that pretty much the best route to go. Any input would be helpful thanks.
  9. I am looking for a trustworthy reliable shop that has experience with starquests in our area. Is there anyone that lives or has lived in the area that may be able to point me in the right direction with this?
  10. really? i wasnt aware of that. i may just go to MPI setup in that case. cause i want to reach my hp goals but i also want it to be as safe as possible, and if that is the way to go then thats what i will do. as far as cost wise money wont be an issue i just want it to be done right.
  11. i know fuel injection pro has a nice setup with 1050cc injectors i believe, would that be enough?
  12. i have been looking in the performance section and whatnot and havent really seen any posts on people getting 300hp on the stock TBI setup, how hard is this to do?
  13. I have an 87, when the car worms up to normal operating temps the idle verys from about 600RPMS to about 1000RPMS i have tired to find the problem but cant figure it out, any ideas?
  14. oops thats what i ment to say was i used the bottom port, but thats about the same that mine sits at. Is that normal?

I just recently installed a boost gauge, and after installing it the idle would sit at about 20 lbs vacuum, but all the sudden it is sitting at about 10, and has a rough idle, i have checked for any leaks and have found nothing. I put a T connector on the 3rd port on the back of the intake mani for the boost gauge is there a better spot? could that be causing the issue?
