  1. Been doing alot of reading of this swap and my question is. If you set the engine as far back as possible in the engine bay, is there still enough room to hook up to the heater core? I plan on using it as a daily driver and would like heat on those cooler days.
  2. Does not run. Wrong injectors in it. In mn.
  3. 87 conquest. All original, 5 speed, maroon interior. Some rust around wheel wells. Asking 1000.00 Will post up some pics this week.
  4. I'm getting the feeling you guys don't like my idea of putting a 302 in the quest. I realize that it will be big job. But finding parts for a dead horse also is no fun. Don't get me wrong here. The does fly when it runs. I have owned this car for almost 10 years now and have moved 5 times. And I have put only 400 miles since I bought it. I just want it to run and stay running whenever I turn the key. I do like the sound of a good ol v8 as well. And as far as swapping in a motor the 302 seems to be the best bang for my buck. And there are enough people on here that have done it and can answer any question I might have during the process. Plus anyone looking for a g54b will 115xxx on it can hit me up.
  5. Been throwing around the idea of swapping a 5.0 in my 87 conquest. Not to clear on what 302 to put in there. I will be wanting efi just cause it will be a daily driver and it gets pretty cold in Minnesota. T5 also. What years did ford make a good 302? I also will be looking for a engine transmition combo just to save on not having to buy extra stuff (flywheel, pressure plate, ect). Been looking on craigslist and already have found some pretty good deals. Just need to know what I should go with.
  6. Ok. I am now planning on just getting a new fuel pump, Walbro. But I found a new dilemma. I pulled one of the injectors tonight to see if leaked. It was the one near the fender side which I believe is the primary injector right? Any way I tried to suck through it and nothing came out. So I then hooked up a 9 volt battery to it while sucking and I got fuel in my mouth. It also clicked so I think it is working like it should. But the injector says... H 47-1... Both of them say the same thing on them. I checked it out on S.O.S. and it says it's not for my year, and it is too big for my primary. I will check the second one tomorrow to see if it is good. So should I buy new or good used injectors for it? How much are new ones anyways? If I can find them. Thanks for looking. Hope to hear some good feedback.
  7. O.K. Heres the kicker. I can go out every day in the morning and it starts. It will run all day like a top. As long as you don't shut it off! AS soon as you do that, it just keeps turning over but no start. Spray starting fluid it TB and it fires then dies. But if I let it sit long enough. It will start and run like there is no tomorrow. And heres a question. If the fuel pump is going, will the car still spin up to 6000 RPMs? Cause I would think if the pumps going it would be starving the motor for fuel. Also I checked plugs and they are fine. Oil dose not smell like gas, and I know I have spark. I'm at a loss right now as to where that F-ing gremlin is in my car.
  8. Ok. I don't think I'm getting any fuel cause I pulled the pipe to the throttle body and had a friend try starting it and could not see any gas being sprayed into it from the injector. After that I gave it a shot of starting fluid and it sprang to life then died. But there are times when it will start like it was new and other times it will pop off like it's going to run and then die and will not fire again.
  9. Just picked up my 87 tsi today. Started up with jump box. "It had been sitting for about 5 months. Drove it for almost 3 hours charging the battery. Ran great. Got home, shut it off. It started right back up. washed it. "About 30 mins" Tried to start it and it fired then sputtered then died. I have had to use a little throttle before to start it, It just poped off at the shop.... So I thought I was good to go..... Came inside, Sat on the couch, read a bunch of "No start" threads. Went back out an hour later........ And presto it started right up. While I was trying to start it I tried everything to get it pop off and nothing. What is wrong with it? I think it's possessed!!!!! Any help would be great.

  11. About a year ago I was given a few web sites for oem conquest and starion parts. One of them was really good "nuts & bolts even" . I know a lot of you will just tell me to keep searching, but I don't have the time or the download thresholds "wild blue F.A.P crap" to spend hours looking parts. So who out there will help a guy out? I still plan on buying parts from the users on the forum here. Just some parts I would like to be new. Thank you.

  13. I want to know the size of all the intercooler piping. I've been on e-bay and found some universal piping for the turbo, intercooler. But my car is at the shop otherwise I'd check it myself. Any help would be great.
