Show me your shift knob!

Recommended Posts

Looking for some idea's to a good shift knob with good weight to throw on when I get a SS. I'm leaning toward a black leather and polished metal mix, to match a grant steering wheel I'm eying for down the road. But lets see what everyone has, and also note whether is a universal set screw type, or specific thread on type, and if so, what brand/thread?

thanks!

Whatever you do, buy one that already has the exact threads needed in it- something specifically made for Mitsubishis like EVOs and Eclipses. I've bought 4 or 5 of those "universal" that have inserts for any type of thread. Those always seem to fall apart on me within a week or two.

It's a Hurst (Obviously lol) with the threaded inserts, seams to be holding up well had it in a different car before the Starion for a couple years.

Try and ignore the Naws floor mats, i do, they've ended up in about every car i've owned at some point until i get ones i want. lol

hahahahahahahaahahha Roberto, come out to chicago and we'll see where we get

I would keep my stock one but I want a little updated touch, with a better shape (don't like the rectangular top), and a some good looks. I laugh when I see those dildo shifters...There are guys on Stanceworks with actual shlong dildo knobs

So evo/eclipse threads fit? That opens a lot of doors for me, I though they where different!

edit:

anyone know the specific thread pitch/size? I'm thinking of taking a real pool ball (idk which number/color yet), and tapping it for the shifter. It would have good weight, and a little unique. I'm thinking number 8 (black lol), number 4 (purple), number 2(blue), or number 5(orange)

I can't really remember but i think somebody told me you need to use a threaded insert or something similar when you drill a pool ball for a shift knob or it cracks pretty quick, not sure if it's the truth or not but that's what i've heard, and what i always wanted to do with my '69 F100.

Here's mine. I got it on eBay last fall. It's a 2" spherical knob, CNC cut from Delrin polymer. It's awesome. I've gone thru probably 5 or 6 shift knobs trying to find the one I like the most, and finally found this one.

IIRC the threads are M10x1.25, might wanna double check on that before making a purchase though.

...and yes, they are the same thread pitch/diameter as an EVO/DSM. The knob I have is meant for an EVO.

or better yet do an acutal beer bottle filled with some resin so it looks "full", and gives it rigidity

Touche`, that's awesome.

I wonder though... In states where it applies, can that be considered an "open container"?
