  4. In response to Scotty making money off of us Starquesters, i can vouch to the fact he gives alot of parts away free of charge, or will front you the part and take payment later. Int he time ive known Mr. Gibb dude has bent over backwards to help me keep my turbo turd on the road. prime example was when i hooked my cruise control up since it never was when i took ownership of the car, the actuator stuck and sent my car to full boost hauling butt down the freeway and to keep from slamming into the car infront of me, pulled the trans to neutral and the engine almost immediately spun to 7k spining a rod bearing. Scotty gave me the key to his yard full of starquests, told me wich cars had good running engines and to help myself. i mean really, who else does that????? not to mention some of the other parts he hooked me up with over the years. Feedback is for good AND bad transactions. it lets us know whos a total doucher and scam artist, and who are stand up ppl who are just trying to help us all keep our cars on the road. theres nothing wrong with making a couple extra bucks here and there, most of us sell parts we arent using for what we paid for em so theres really no profit to be had. leaving feedback benifits us ALL as a community, good or bad plain and simple, and it is god manners a decentcy to leave feedback for ppl who have takin time out of there lives to assist YOU the buyer for parts. Sellers should also leave feedback to let us know whos a dead beat buyer and whos not, who is a total pain in the butt to sell to and whos not. Its just benificial. Im curious to know who actually drives thier Starquest on a regular and who doesnt ???? further more who actually still currently owns one of these beauties and who doesnt, but is still around to stir up crap and run mouths???????
  5. im putting together an mpi system so factory injector wont help any, thanks for the offer though
  6. anyone know where to get a good set of 750cc inj. at a decent cost?
  7. however, the awd talon will hold and handle better for auto xring and road racing, and theres more out there, and bang for the buck is better somply due to the fact the talons are more abundant still with a more produced power plant so supply and demand does bite you in the butt when you are getting parts. however, you could put the 4g in another quest and go that route too. but as previously stated, it all up to what YOU want
  8. very interested, pm me with detailed info on whats wrong, i live in vegas and have dropped one off near san diego for resto, my truck will bring it back no problem
  9. is what your feeling more like a shutter??? could be result of sealing issues, and/or clutch/band issue. hows fluid look? does it have a burnt smell??? there is a difference between old dirty fluid and actual burnt fluid. if theres a burnt band or clutch pack it'll smell very simular to a burnt clutch out of a manual trans but with a more bitter or rounchy smell due to the fluid. automatic transmissions dont really like just sitting around. neither to vacum diaphrams
  10. where do we get one of these spacers i see that you have on yours?
  11. what would you be asking for a crank? what do the journals look like? do they need to be turned or would a good polishing be sufficent? what kinda mileage are on them? and what would it cost to ship to las vegas 89121. thanks. and ill be keeping an eye out in the mail for the timing set and let you know when it arrives
  12. ive been off line for a while and just read all the latest posts. so when you manually shift, you have 1-3 correct? if so, then chances are good that you have a manual shift vb. as far as od, when puhsing button does it kick in? contact the vb builder and verify. usually a stage 3 vb means its a manual shift vb, or at least all the shift kits i put in chevys, fords, and dodges are set up like that. stage 1 is a slightly firmer shift yet still soft enough to be comforatable, stage 2 is a more aggresive apply, very stiff, and in some cases if you have the correct parts and knowledge, a VERY stiff apply. stage 3 is full "race" and requires a manually shifted automatic. in comparison, 700r4's require you to put a steel wire in the gov assem to make it a manually shifted vb instead of springs and or weights for the up or down shift. did od work before rebuild?
  13. manual shift VB? maybe stuck govenor. who rebuilt transmission??
  14. make sure all valves move smoothly, check bushings for heavy scorrin, look at your pump bushing especially. check the thrust washers for planets, mesure your clearences for the planets to verify proper spacing is within spec. when you rebuild each sub assemlly, air check them to verify they will applly, the theory is, if it applys with air, then it'll aplly with fluid pressure. just do it by the book and check all the little things, as they often make the difference between your automatic trans working or not.
  15. the trans you are refering to is a JATCO trans, they even had a beefier version used in later years for our cars. the jatco was to the japs like borg-warner or tremec is to USA car lines. basicslly used it in almost all major lines at some point.
