It's cool, but it doesn't have a provision to keep the lid closed.

Unless they added the tab on the back, which wouldn't be hard at all.

Is that a welded patch? Or did they fill over a piece of tape?

Hard to tell.

I'm thinking maybe for the tab a piece of bent metal and some epoxy?

There was someone on this board a few years ago that had one of these on his car, I always thought it was cool.

My 99 Deville has a clean door with a 'popper' .  Probably lots of other cars with those at the boneyard .

That would be me.

I weld'd a 1/2" square piece of HSS onto the backside of the lid and slotted it to catch the factory latch.   Don't have a pic handy but can get one.

It would have to be a fairly strong magnet because the factory spring to pop the lid open has a high spring stiffness.
