Anyone have any "drop-in" replacement suggestions for door and rear deck speakers on an 86?  I'm not changing out the radio, only the speakers.

Looking for whatever is the right ohm rating for factory and fits without cutting out the door :D

Thanks

Any considerations to how deep the speakers can be for the doors?

Walmart Sony 5 1/4 doors 6 1/2 rears  they fit nicely in stock locations. Dashboard speakers? Just forget about it lol.Mitsu engineers couldn't have picked sh....r place to put them.Lol  but if you do go to swap them out get a penicillin shot first and take a month of work to get it done. Someone had a write up how to replace them and for the one on drivers side he instructed to send your wife and kids away on vacation before you start on it!

Thanks guys.  I found some 5.25" 8 ohm speakers to use in the door.  So I'll leave the dash connected.

I'll look for some reasonably priced 6.5" deck speakers in the near future.

Parts Express has a nice selection. They are my 'go to'  speaker source.

i'd stick to something more efficient ~20-30W rms & 4ohm if driven of the oem radio
u can get surprisingly decent sound. I'd go for a speaker with much better user feedback
iMy last starquest had very nice sounding $40 JBL 5-1/4" 2 way in the door
If speaker is installed firmly & keep all the back waves in the door via plastic barrier or insulation
makes a big difference.
Skip the big magnet - mooaaar power hype.
Notice that solid sound oem crank outta wimpy speakers with teeeny magnets & 10 watts

poor installation can lead to poor reviews
I bought some $8 delco 6x8 closeout from partsxpress years ago
Took my time 'snugly' mounting in front doors, and re-installed rear deck 6x8 three times, just to get the sound I was chasing
I was toooo happy with the outcome.... driven only by an amazon $40 mechless indash.
If u got the time + skilz, the challenge is fun

The reviews are for a laptop *shrug*.

Anyways something wrong with Amazon database.  The model changed for the listing and I received the wrong model (4ohm/5"). Should have been a model that's 5.25 and 8 ohms.

Put them in anyway because i took apart the doors and who reads boxes until they finish a project.

They sound good though.  Much better than stock

Also I left the dash speakers because I can't be bothered and I think they sound.... Ok'ish unlike the blown doors
