  1. Freebird...The German Autobahn/Interstate. No speed limit. I was in the Air Force and I spent a few years in Germany. No stickers, I never believed in putting things on my car. If I had to do it again, I definitely would LoL
  2. You are welcome Jimmy. I'm just happy my car...I mean your car is in good hands LoL. As I reflect, I am happy I was able to drive it to it's new home instead of seeing you drive it away. I really enjoyed my last ride!!! I still have to find that title!!! Playa Mike
  3. Yes, Jimmy was the first to reply. He is stopping by today. I txted him a few pics this morning. Free bird, Thanks for the nice comment!!! I've only owned two cars and that was my first...just a few months shy of having it for 30 years. I got more than my money worth from the enjoyment of having this unique car for 29 plus years. It's been all over the world with me and the Autobahn. It will be an adjustment not seeing it outside LoL Playa
  4. Hey D-VO, I was thinking that giving it away was a good cause. The car would be owned by someone who love these cars and that's payment enough for me! Markhansenconquest, I'm not sure I understand your pick it up comment. Playa
  5. I have a silver 1986 Starion LE that I am giving away. A couple of weeks ago I sent a Pm to firemanJake letting him know that I was not selling mine and giving it away, but he never replied. If anyone is interested, just let me know. As the saying goes, first come first served. I am the original owner of the car. I finally decided it is time to part ways. I don't want to sell, but it would be nice if it goes to someone who want to keep it running for a few more years. I haven't driven it in about 10 months because there was a fuel smell inside it the last time I drove it. I had just spent some money on it a few months earlier and I decided not to spend anymore on it. Additionally, I will not keep it on my insurance any longer. September is when the registration expires. If anyone is interested just let me know and I will tell everything you need to know about my car. Of course anyone in the Tampa Bay Area can stop by and check it out. Playa
  6. FiremanJake I just sent you a pm
  7. Have you found your Station? I know you posted in November that you are looking for another one. I live in Tampa and I have a silver 1986 Station LE that I am thinking about parting with. I stopped driving it last year because of gas fumes when I was driving it.
  8. Thanks for the replies!! I guess you guys are right. It's time for me to do my own repairs. I've had my car for 24 years and I have always taken it to a mechanic. I always said that I would work on it once I retired from the Air Force. I'm in my first month of retirement so I guess it's time. Sorry for the long lead in before I state my problem. I having problem my clutch. When I depress my pedal the cluth stays in place. Sometimes if very difficult to change gears. Putting the clutch in reverse is another story. It makes the loudest grinding noise before it finally goes into gear. Finally, if I drive for over 20 minutes without changing gears, it takes me over a minute to get the car into gear. When I press the clutch the pedal goes all the way to the floor without any tension. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Thanks Mike
  9. I'm Looking for a good mechanic in Tampa Fl who are familiar with Starions. thanks Mike
  10. I'm just responding on personal experience. I didn't get my overheating resolved until I replaced my radiator. I had my radiator rodded three times. Each time my car would run cool for about four months and then it would overheat again. As I said, replacement of my radiator did the trick for me.

    Need Help

Thanks to everyone who replied to my post. You were right!! My fuel pump was bad so I had it replaced. Now for the really bad news. I had a compression check done on my engine and it turns out I have a bad cell. The readings are as follows: #1 123, #2 85, #3 100, and #5 105. I was told to either replace or rebuild the engine. Now I am in a dilemma. I'm seriously thinking about getting rid of my car even though my heart says no. It's hard because this is my first car. I bought this when I entered the Air Force and I've had it for 24 years. I just retired from the USAF andI plan to return to return to Tampa where I bought the car, but I think I will leave the car right here in Charleston SC. I've only owned to cars in my life, my Starion and my G35 Coupe, which i just paid off last month. What do you guys think I should do? Playa AKA Staff

Thanks again for the replies, that's what my friend thought as well. I guess we will change the fuel pump. Isn't it located in the fuel tank? Mike

    Need Help

Thanks for the replies fellas, I've already changed the fuel filter, therefore, I'll check all the hoses and vacumn lines etc tomorrow. I hope this works!! Thanks again!!! Mike
  14. Need help with my 86 starion Flatbody. Since I'm not a mechanic, I'll do my best to describe what's happening. I tried to drive my starion yesterday an as usual it started up with no problems. I drove about a half mile then all of a sudden the car would not accelerate. The more I gave it gas the less it would repsond to me pressing the accelerator so I turned the car around so I could go back home. The only way I could get the car to move was to shift thru the gears quickly, meaning I could get the car to accelerate about 5 MPH in each gear. Once i was able to get the car to 25 MPH, I would have to downshift and start the process all over again until I made it back to the house. Once I pulled into my driveway the car died. Today it started again, but i can't get it to remain running. When I start it up, it will die within 30 seconds. When I try to give it gas, it will rev for a few second and die. i've had this car for 24 years and this is the weirdest thing I have ever seen. I had a friend help me change the fuel filter, but it did not help. Has anyone experienced this problem? I also looking for someone in the Charleston SC, area who can help or know a good mechanic who can work on starions. I hope my description of my problem makes sense as that is the best I know how to describe what is happening. Mike AKA Playa
  15. Is the 86 Starion manual for the widebody or the flatty. I need one for the flatty. Staff AKA Playa
