Had to get help from my stepdad for an extra set of hands to help lift this head off the block...The cam gear gave us some trouble, as the head kept catching on the gear, but we eventually got it to go over the cam gear....

And here is where the gasket was damaged (at this water jacket)

The head looked good, and isnt damaged. The block even looks good, so Im assuming it has a low spot possibly between #4 cylinder, and this water jacket....

Im going to clean the surface of the block the best I can...I did already purchase a Felpro 9116PT head gasket to install next week..

That deck doesn't look clean.  Was it clean when you installed the gasket?

Its been 6 years ago, so its vague. I picked up the block from the machine shop where it was bored and vatted. It looked really clean from what I remember. I did not have the block decked though....

Thanks for the update.
Did you even check to see if the surface of the engine and head is flat with a straight edge?

Yes.  I used  straight edge and a flashlight...Head looked really good.   Block looked pretty good but did have some noticeable low spots.  I used a Felpro 9116 head gasket w/ copper spray...

I just got in from the garage.  It's running again and idles great.  No noticeable leaks, so everything seems well.  I will take it out tomorrow and see how it does......
