VBrad511 emailed Strut Wise and thie is the Response:

This is what Frank sent me back.

Hello Brad,
Yes they can be rebuilt&I'm familiar with the wiring encased in the system.
If the strut has no plier marks from being clamped(to hold the hatch up) they are OK
As they install with the shaft pointing up eventually they will fail.
Cost wise Brad it varies&between $65 to $85 per strut&$85 being the cost of making a new replacement strut
Shipping
you can just pop them in the post&that works out good,or if using a courier just declare the value at $10 for customs
Time wise(depending on how busy i am) allow 2 wks
That gives you an idea Brad&any queries just let me know
Cheers :-)

I will add that after Frank completed my struts with the electrics he said the future charges would be about $105 per strut.  Still a great deal.  He's got a mail box at the UPS store in Bellingham, WA and crosses the boarder several times a week so if you call him ahead of time you can avoid the uncertainties in cross boarder shipping.

They did mine before his even and they work great!  Careful as the hatch sometimes wants to jump up upon pulling the release lever.

I didn't have the luxury of avoiding customs delay & cost. That'll certainly help moving forward.

Smooth & solid. Send em yours & they send em back good.

That's amazing. I bet a Hood strut by them would be awesome. pull the latch and not even have to lift your hatch/hood. That's like beer fetching dog!
