  1. Sorry to burst your bubble, but getting a muffler doesn't provide a lot of HP, it is more of a myth. Let me take you through the process here. You have the headers, then the pipes for the exhauste system, cat(s) and then the muffler. The only way you see any gains is if your muffler is smaller in size and restriction than the system ahead of it. Remember, the muffler is the LAST thing your exahuste passes through. If you are looking for bang for the buck, the CAT(S) are far more restrictuve than the muffler. Then the pipes/header and then finally the muffler. I'd look into replacing out the entire exahuste system, a muffler will do little but make a lot of noise! Sorry to break the news to you...
  2. COZ & KEV, I ordered my boot on 10/15 and I have yet to receive it! ACK! I look up on the website and it says it is in Chicago Depot! I've tried to get ahold of the people at JC Whitney and no go...logged an e-mail complaint, haven't heard back yet! what a PITA!
  3. The answer is this...depends on how much money you have to spend. Let me tell you 1st hand, it cost money to make a nice power quest. I am at the end process of a quest rebuild, having it professionally done and not myself. I am an IT geek, not a wrench head. I researched a lot in asking the very same questions, getting references and so on. Not only this board, but people themselves. I live in San Jose, CA, found a local quest club and began to do the Q&A to members as well. Here is what I experienced: You need a complete engine redo to get 350 HP without a meltdown. New pistions, rights, top end, everything. If you can afford it, go forge. When you are redoing all that, plan on new radiator, clutch, fuel pump, new hoses, wires, etc. Basically everything you can see on the top side. Then you need to get a down pipe, Blow off Valve (BOV), air filter and open up the air can. List goes on. A good mechanic who has good references will be able to help you on the laudry list. If you want top notch work, plan on spending 5-7K on the engine rebuild. For the Turbo I went with a rebuilt 18G with high/low switch setting. For daily driving set at 10 PSI, high end is in the 20's. This pulls nearly 350 HP to the rear wheels. By the way, I had to replace my suspension as well, another 2K. Paint job is next, boding and int is in great shape, so I will not have to spend a lot of money there.   4. For those of you who need to have a quest rebuilt and do not have the time or knowledge to do so, I highly recommend Victory Automotive. Talk to VIC, ( 408 ) 266-7570. He quoted me out a price, gave me the unknowns and followed up with a quote for the knowns. Things such as water pump condition, radiator core rebuild, clutch and so on that needed to be inspected before knowning the full cost invovled in rebiuld/restore. Very helpful in finding good alternatives to expnesive parts. Really worked hard in keeping to budget, however it was blown due to me adding on, but I made sure he quoted out the additions and kept to that price. He gave me a great break as things started to add up he threw things in for free. The car drives well. The engine came out strong. Everything works well. Again, this person is located in San Jose, California. Very knowledgeable in the rebuild process and too much time to discuss things and educate me.
  5. I had to order parts from TEP, wasn't sure what I needed. Â I e-mailed Steve at TEP several times, always quick turn around for guidance. Â I had a lot of Q&A and cross checked all advice. Â It was very good advice. Â When I finally did place an order, they were very quick in turning it around to ship. Â Came in a nicely prepared package. I ordered the complete 2.5" exhauste & Cat back system, BOV, high/low switch for turbo and new boost guage. Â Prices were a tad high, but the advice was top. Â Service was excellent. Â Recommend buying from him anytime and advice is dead on.
  6. I sent my turbo out to be referb under the 18g upgrade price. Sent it out, got a prompt reply that they had recieved my turbo. About a week later a followup call that everything looks good and the rebuild is about the start. At that point, I paid up, price as advertised. My mechnaic had questions about the specs of the turbo and so on so he could deisgn things out properly. After a few miss fires between Robert, tech at Forced, and my mechanic, but they finally hooked up. My mechanic was impressed with the knowledge and help he provided. The turbo was shipped out, works great. The only complaint I had was timing, it took a while for them to get the job done and when I called it took a while for them to respond. But the product is top notch and I prefer quality over quantity anytime. Over all, good experience. I'd recommend using them to anyone.
  7. Yeah...Actually they said you can get it from Summit...I didn't know who/what summit was, a little research and Summit Racing's website came right up. Found the product, gave them a call, I now have a new heat shield. Thanxs all

  11. Here is what I did....I bought an Alipine Cass/CD unit, forgot the model now. I then took it apart and soldered in new wires after tracking the steering wheel wires, what controls what. I then ran the wires from the radio out the back and tied them into the steering control. I must say, you MUST know how to do a few things. One, find the same controls of the steering wheel on the radio, crack it open and know how to use a sodder gun. Second, you must have the correct type of meter to test what resistance value is needed and make any changes if need be. Then tie it all together with the wirfe from the wheel. Kinda hard, but no adapters needed and you can do it with ANY radio.

  13. ESIrType - How much did that cost you? I'm assuming painted stipes, right? Can you outline what was done to the quest as far as body work vs cost? Darin
  14. Hello, Over the years my quest has had a repair or two and some of the stickers have not been put back on. Time to get a total paint job and put those stickers back to original. Can some one tell me or send me pics as to the sticker, font type and placement of them on the car?
