Komeuppance
Its all Justin's fault telling guys to get out and drive their car. Lol... Jk, I was dailying it anyway. It feels like some teeth broke off... My Starion felt 2nd was overrated, and effectively converted itself into a 4spd. I have new transmissions on standby and have called in the Triple Diamond Mafia to swap out the trans while I'm in the middle of a full drift. The trans was tired, and I was getting ready to change it anyway (like next weekend). I just felt it coming soon. What I didn't expect was for it to break so soon while just pulling easily through a four way stop, not even abusing it. She got me the 40 miles I needed to safety though, I even was faster than stupid Camrys lol. A Porsche got me on the downhill because I was in limp mode. -Robert
StarquestRescue
My last one went like that. I was hearing a little noise for a couple of weeks i just could not quite identify. Eased through a intersection shifted to second and that's when the second tooth came off.
natallica
My red DD just lost the water pump belt and overheated 10 miles from home.I limped it home, but it was pegged all the way, now I'm sure I'm gonna have to replace the head gasket and who knows what else. Glad mines not tranny issues, sorry to hear Robert. Either way, not a good day! -N8

Technology
3rd went out like that for me. Normal on-ramp acceleration, not even in boost, then some noise and no more 3rd. Derek came to my rescue and that's when I put in the heavy duty 89 tranny.

Blew the head gasket and cracked the head.

Guest
I've yet to have a tranny go south on me....I must be granny driving and not having enough fun. This one came to me already bad. http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk226/80sriceman/Mobile%20Uploads/Photo0413.jpg Whatever you do man, don't take a BFH to that busted tranny, it just makes things worse. Rebuild it and you'll be good. Edited April 14, 2013 by louswheel01

strang3majik
Had second go out in my black car downshifting for a turn...lol. Started a knocking noise at the same time. Drove it for 3 months like that, pulled out of my driveway one day and it locked up in first gear right in front of my house. Lol. Popped the pan off...one of the gears (I'm assuming second) had about 1/3 of it sheared of and there was no trace of the pieces. I have a feeling those piece are why it locked up...lol

Pulled over, called a flatbed wrecker, $80 later got it home safely with no damage done.
mstieg
My original 87 trans locked up under normal driving & with my friend too. One of the arms got jammed up in there. Had to get flat-bed towed. Thankfully found an 88 on ebay an hour away and was able to get it in & back to down to class by Monday. Fast forward to 6 speed now...can't wait til that's done! SidewaySStarion
I had my 87 trans go like that, I was street racing in vegas, spraying a 100 shot of nitrous and the trans held up fine. But the next day I was pulling away from a light and I shifted into 2nd and then built 5 pounds of boost and BAM 2nd gear let go. I drove that thing 300 miles back to torrance doing 90 on the freeway with a trans that sounded like a machine at a rock quarry that grinds big rocks into smaller rocks.
