MAF-T GEN2 & GM MAF works great

Recommended Posts

that makes two of us that would like a dyno tune. awe man, sorry to hear about your spun bearing.

did you have her running tip top before you installed the gen2?

what are your configuration settings?

which wire on the MSD 6AL did you connect for your RPM signal. which tach adapter?

have you monitored the RPM signal on the gen2 to make sure the signal you're using is steady and not jumping wildly?

have you checked and set your low, mid, and high load points?

when you get a chance, shoot all your settings onto here and i'll do the same for comparison.

depending on which RPM you punch it, your transition from low to mid to high load at that RPM range needs adjustment... the A/F tracking only works at WOT.

there are quite a few settings that i could use some help with as well.

Well I set the AFR tracking to a lower TPS value of like 3.8 and rpm of 2800.Did you keep the default lo-mid-hi load points? Maybe that could smooth it out. The car was running strong before I installed the gen 2, though all my heavy porting made the 1g a little unreliable. what is your mainscale? Mine was around -15, then I had to richen up low and mid, and pull a lot of fuel on high load. I have the tach wire for the GEN 2 going to the tach adapter output pin on the 6al box. I had matching and steady RPMs on the sensor read out on the translator unit.

I'll have to go note all my settings again. I had the v1 output for the IAT at 2.2v and the v2 output for the baro at 4.6v That's all I really rembember off hand...

  • 3 weeks later...

ya got that rod bearing fixed?

sorry for the long delay, i subscribed to this post but didn't notice your reply until now.

blowinup54B's has taken my lady to the gym or I would go out now and note my settings for you. surely he'll be back shortly, though Beth Ann is running pretty sweet... 20G w/ custom garret innards currently at 22 lbs boost so he's probably going to take the long way home as i do.

sounds like you might need a little more TPS enrich.

my v1 output for the IAT is 2.52v and the v2 output for the baro is 3.800v

i was having a similar issue of A/F dipping when getting into boost when i had very close to default lo-mid-hi load points... but raising the mid and hi levels did help the dip in A/F ratio smooth out.

i believe my mainscale is around -7. had to richen low and mid, and pull a lot of fuel on high load as well.

my AFR tracking is slightly lower than yours -- Min RPM - 2304, Min TPS - 3.52.... a lower the RPM setting might help.

well, he just arrived and said, you won't believe what just happened.

some dude with a 2012 camaro (with said) 20K supercharger upgrade running over 565 HP to the wheels was mouthing off so Blowinup54B's called him out... "i got this 4 banger over here"...

so they went to Patton Island Bridge... the chevy wanted to start from a dig but my son, Greg, didn't want to launch my car. they started from a 40 roll and Greg let off at 130 because there was another car ahead. the camaro started 2 car lengths ahead and only finished 3 lengths ahead.

this is with an 87 clutch which isn't quite up to the task. oh yeah, they both walked off and left "bonecrusher's" modded G8 GT that was racing as well.

he said they were all surprised!

up the boost a little more after new Act HD 240mm clutch/PP... when (if) it ever comes in (ordered from JDM.com) and i want a rematch.

this calls for another beer... i'm off to the garage.... :)

565 to the crank as advertised from Long Lewis Ford who he let build the car for 20k.

Car doesn't have a stall, or anything still stock 4l80e, no headers, nothing just Twin Screw Supercharger and a tune. I just got a call from one of my friends and was told that he wrecked the Camaro trying to run from the Police, so you will not get your re-match. Sorry Dad.

I theory this should work for a 12a correct?

I'm going to try your settings and see how it reacts.

I've been fiddling with mine for nine months now.

BTW great info, this should be a good starting point for me.

great... hope it helps. what issues are you having?

yes, though your mid and high load points might need to be set slightly lower since the 12a spools quicker.

i have also just noticed in the manual that the A/F Tracking Gain setting should be around 5 to start with... mine is at 0.8... i set this when it was on my red Conquest when the RPM signal was causing problems... some of my settings like this one may be off, so i'm going for a ride to play my fiddle. lol

i'll list my user tune as well asap after i return.

Ok other then my mainscale setting being at -12 all my settings are the same as yours.

Only differance is I run roller rockers, 3"LT1 Mas, monsta banshee cam.

I will probably richen up the idle and lean out the upper rpm a bit.

With my cam my car likes idle in the 13"s, just seems to idle smoother.

I'm running high 10"s at WOT so its a little rich for my taste, I"d like to see

around 11.5 at WOT.

i've got mechanical lifters, unsure of cam though it is hydraulic... i could post pics i got of it when installing the mechanical rocker setup it if need be.

my idle is around mid-high 13's... it does idle smoother around 12.6 where i had it a few days ago though.

mine was rich as well in mid and upper boost levels. i burned another $35 of fuel this afternoon acompanied by more fiddling... leaned out both mid and high at 4000 RPM and up... it's now running 11's at MID LOAD and @ 7 lbs boost, and WOT.

I also raised the boost to 22 lbs... it spikes up to 23 and rests at 22

how much boost are you running?

do you have a chart of the tune you had before changing it to my settings?

i would really like to get her on a dyno and will start doing some data logging soon.

now BUTT DYNO = 399+HP

not sure what the mods were on this newer Mustang GT i ran earlier today before making these changes, exhaust and cam for sure, but we ran pretty much fender to fender... we all eased into it then floored it as i could tell, up to 90 since this was Florence Blvd.. lol. my old tires were spinning all the way through 1st AND 2nd... but we were both pulling that Mustang Cobra that started the whole thing. lol may not have been a REAL Cobra though.

box reads "part No. 2222" but part reads "Bosch 0 280 160 001" so it must be an "MSD/Bosch re-boxed FPR" as i've seen quoted by Indiana. wanting to upgrade to Aeromotive or similar. which would you recommend? the gauge that was mounted on my fuel rail broke off as i was driving a few weeks ago and i haven't replaced it yet...lucky she didn't go up in flames. looking at getting either an AEM Fuel Pressure Gauge Digital 100psi 52mm 30-4401 to match my wideband or cheaper Prosport that would match my boost/vacuum gauge.

as of now all i have to go on is that old gauge that shot off... it was reading 33 psi at idle and i never have taped it to the windshield but i'm not sure it was accurate since the FPR is adjustable 36-45 psi. injectors are Delphi 650/950.

A/F at idle A/F is @ 14 sometimes and other times it hovers around 13

i leaned out MID Load above 4000rpm a little more today because it was too rich in the 10's again

same with the HIGH Load and i've noticed some pulls at around 7 psi run in the 10's and other times 11's

might this be my FPR... an MSD 2222 ?

at WOT the air/fuel tracking takes over, though with it set to run 11's it creeps up to 12's at 5000 RPM+ ... this is making me believe i need bigger injectors as well.

I'm running around 12 psi on the little 12a.

I have to work 12 hours monday and tuesday, so wed I'm going to write down what I'm running.

Leaned it up a bit more today and its getting better.

water leak... that no good, hope it's nothing major.

i hear ya... i'm waiting on finishing up these rims i'm working on before putting on my new tires. the old tires have had it, so i'll be mostly driving my van since i go out of town 3 or 4 times a week on shopping runs... i'm an ebay merchant and it's like having 3 jobs sometimes.

i leaned mine up today as well and it's also better.

how does your drive-ability now compare with the tune you had before changing to my general settings?... did you note your tune before, as i'm curious what you had and hope i'm not screwing up your progress.

I didn't write down my old setup but what I have now is a lot better then before.

The water leak is an easy fix, its just the line on the intake.

As soon as I have time I will post what I'm running.
